I am proud that when Drew Olanoff from Blame Drew’s Cancer hugged those other people that had been diagnosed with cancer, I was in tears… unashamed, unyielding, full flowing tears. His talk at Gnomedex has stirred something inside me. It’s a mixture of sorrow, fear, joy, love and a dogged determination to roundhouse kick all forms of cancer square in the face, Chuck Norris style.

While I have had the very good fortune not to be effected by cancer (yet), I will not sit here and wait before I act. I have supported events like Movember in the past and when ever possible support cancer organisations and mens health (my 2008 Porno Mo was something to behold).

So, what now?

Since March 13th, I have been growing a beard. What started out as my usual undesire to shave has now turned into a self-aware being, it even has it’s own FriendFeed account. The beard and I have been through a lot this year, both personally and professionally, and it has always been a source of humor for me and hopefully for all of you.

But, as all things, it is time for it to depart my face.

The reasons are many and varied but alas, for the time being, I must become Sans Beard. But, my beard is not going without a fight, nor will I let it go into the light without giving it an epic send off and the honor it has rightly earned.
